  • Princeton has licenses to Stata, R/RStudio, and Matlab through Princeton Virtual Desktops.  CAS authentication is required.  See the DSS guides for instructions for Stata via Virtual Desktops.
  • The LINUX version of Stata is available through the Nobel server.
    • These steps are for those who already have the Stata setup for Nobel. If this is the first time using it, please contact OIT at helpdesk@princeton.edu or try first one of the two options above.
    • You need to VPN to the University using GlobalProtect,  The portal address is vpn.princeton.edu. This will also allow you to access DSS data sources restricted to Princeton students, faculty, and staff.
    • Before login to Nobel make sure you have installed and/or are running XMing (if Windows) or XQuartz (if Mac).
    • You will not be able to run Stata from Nobel if you are running out of space in your H drive (see the error message below). Send a request for more space to OIT by emailing them at helpdesk@princeton.edu.
      • "X11 connection rejected because of wrong authentication.
