  • Cataloged
    • If a major sale, check the library catalog.
    • Search by specific auction house, author, or individual sale title.
  • Un-cataloged
    • Format: many media
    • Location: both on and off-site
    • Coverage: not comprehensive (1800s-present)
    • Sales Catalogs page
      • Search by auction house, city, date, sale number, or description, such as Old Masters, furniture, Indian, etc.
    • Ask about older catalogs not in library catalog (see below)
  • Retrieval
    • E-mail marquand@princeton.edu, and a Marquand staff member will assist in requesting from off-site.
    • NOTE: Firestone has many book, coin and other sales - see library catalog. Marquand has additional auction catalogs for hundreds of auction houses. NYPL also has auction catalog holdings that you may find in the Princeton library catalog.  SCIPIO (database) is a good resource for determining who owns an auction catalog beyond PUL holdings.
