- OSIRIS
- Search for company by name or ticker symbol
- Select the company from the results list
- on right-hand menu, hover over Financial Data and select Global Detailed Format
- scroll to the Income Statement and look for Research and Development Expenses
- WRDS
- Choose Compustat
- Choose Fundamentals Annual
- The data element is Income Statement Items: XRD - Research and Development Expense
- WRDS also has Research Quotient. Uses Compustat data. Research Quotient = percentage increase in revenue from a 1% increase in R&D. RQ is the output elasticity of R&D. RQ offers a universal, uniform, and reliable measure of a firm's R&D productivity. Covers 1971 to 2015.
