Departmental practice for acquiring materials for its collections is to work through rare book dealers or auction houses, with whom the Library has a long-established relationship, rather than purchasing directly from private individuals. This includes donations.
A list of reputable rare book dealers can be found on the Antiquarian Booksellers of America Association (ABAA) website.
Due to space considerations, even when our department does receive offers from our associated dealers, the curators tend to be very selective regarding acquisitions.
For more information regarding donations, please contact Special Collections staff with questions or concerns via the Ask a Question form on our website.
For donations concerning the collections held at Mudd Library (University Archives and Public Policy papers), please note that Mudd has paused accepting materials in anticipation of a renovation. You are welcome to still submit an inquiry, however we encourage donors to check back with us in September 2020.
